Thirteenth generation of students from the Faculty of Environmental Protection received their diplomas

On Thursday, 28 November, the graduation ceremony for the new bachelors and masters in ecotechnology was held in the Marin Hall of the Fran Korun Koželjski Music School.

The awarding of diplomas is always a special, solemn event. It is a special occasion for the graduates and for all those who have stood by them and supported them in one way or another during their studies. The graduation ceremony is a time for pride, celebration and looking forward to the future. This year’s ceremony was dedicated to the thirteenth generation of graduates who have completed their chapter at the College and opened the door to new opportunities, challenges and goals.

This year, 19 graduates and 3 Master of Ecotechnology students received their diplomas from the hands of the Dean, Prof. Dr. Boštjan Pokorný, and the Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gašper Gantar.

The graduates will be able to put the knowledge they have acquired to good use, as data shows that their employability in the profession is increasing every year. As Dean Boštjan Pokorny pointed out in his speech to the graduates, we live in a world in which the interdisciplinary knowledge gained will be all the more important. “There are many opportunities and challenges ahead of us that we as a society will have to address. You are equipped with the knowledge to be able to take the right path, to make the right, professional decisions based on scientific knowledge and not to follow populism, which is unfortunately also not lacking in the field of environmental protection.”

The importance of professional development is also recognised in Velenje, where the Faculty has been operating since its foundation. Cooperation in the local area is very important for the growth and development of the Faculty. The new graduates were also honoured by the Vice-Mayor of Velenje, Aleksandra Vasiljević, who wished them well on their future path in life.

The graduates are justifiably proud of the results they have achieved and the path they have followed so far. They are aware that the degree they have obtained signifies a commitment to act in a manner befitting the profession, which is written in the solemn graduation vow of the graduates of the Faculty of Environmental Protection, which was read out by graduate Maša Koradej.

The musical accompaniment of the ceremony was provided by members of the brass ensemble of the Fran Korun Koželjski Music School and the exceptionally talented young pianist Filip Runjak.
