FEP at the Professional Meeting “Microplastics for Breakfast”

FEP Participates in the Meeting of Slovenian Micro- and Nanoplastics Researchers

Representatives of the Faculty of Environmental Protection attended the professional meeting Microplastics for Breakfast: 2nd Meeting of Slovenian Micro- and Nanoplastics Researchers. The event was dedicated to connecting researchers, industry representatives, and decision-makers, as well as to exchanging knowledge on current research, challenges, and development opportunities in the field of micro- and nanoplastics.

The meeting provided an important platform for presenting research work, sharing professional experience, and discussing future challenges in the identification, monitoring, and reduction of the environmental impacts of micro- and nanoplastics. A particular focus was placed on linking scientific findings with the needs of industry and wider society, which is essential for developing effective solutions in environmental protection.

The Faculty of Environmental Protection was represented at the meeting by Assistant Professor Dr. Anja Bubik and Assistant Katrin Školnik Škrabe. Katrin presented the faculty’s research work, educational activities, and opportunities for cooperation in raising awareness and providing education on microplastics. In her presentation, she highlighted the importance of a practical approach to addressing microplastics, particularly through activities that help young people better understand this important environmental challenge. She also presented the MIKRO(µ)ŠOLA initiative, which focuses on integrating microplastics-related content into educational activities, professional excursions, and cooperation with research environments.

We are pleased to have taken part in an event that promotes networking, cooperation, and the development of new solutions in environmental protection. Meetings of this kind make an important contribution to knowledge transfer among researchers, educational institutions, the economy, and decision-makers, while strengthening joint efforts to better understand and manage environmental risks associated with micro- and nanoplastics.
