The Faculty of Environmental Protection actively participated in the international workshop »Science drop: water for peace-peace for water«, organised by the Polytechnic University of Themissarovar / Faculty of Industrial Chemistry and Environmental Engineering on the occasion of World Water Day and in the framework of the project »Education for Plastic in a Circular and Climate Neutral Economy – Preventing Wase Ending up into the Environment«. With the lecture »Confronting water microplastics catchment challenges«, master students Aljoša Krajnc and researcher Anja Bubik, PhD, presented our research contribution to the monitoring of microplastics in aquatic environments.
The aim of the workshop was to encourage discussions on water pollution and climate change among experts, researchers, consultants and local authorities.
World Water Day was declared by the United Nations as a day dedicated to raising awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water, including the 115 million people who drink surface water. It is celebrated on 22 March each year to raise awareness about the importance of drinking water and the sustainable use of aquifers. This year’s central theme is: »Water for Peace«. |
