Assoc. Prof. Peter Frantar, PhD, a lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences (FVO), co-authored a scientific article with Dr. Nevenka Bogataj (Slovenian Institute for Adult Education), which was published in the journal Acta geographica Slovenica. The article focuses on ecosystem services and is entitled “Groundwater recharge as a basis for the assessment of ecosystem services on common land: The case of the Primorska region in Slovenia.”
Agrarian commons that are managed sustainably have a significant impact on both the quantity and quality of drinking water, particularly in times of increasing droughts and climate change. Common land therefore plays a crucial role in ensuring long-term water security and should be recognised as an important factor in water resources management.
