From 21 to 24 November 2023, in the ancient town of Erice, Sicily, an international conference Urban mammals in Europe took place, where speakers from ten European countries presented their findings on the (also in Slovenia) very relevant issue of the increasing presence of wildlife in urban environments. The event was organised by the Ettore Majorana Foundation and the Centre for Scientific Culture as part of the International School of Ethology.
In an invited one-hour lecture, the situation in Slovenia was presented by the Dean of the FEP, Prof. Dr. Boštjan Pokorny, who has led two CRP projects on this topic in Slovenia: (i) Characteristics, problems and management of (grey) crow populations in the urban environment (V4-1437); (ii) Wildlife in settlements, roads and other non-leaf areas: problems, challenges, solutions (V4-1825).
