The Faculty of Environmental Protection (FVO) took part in the international MICROM 2025 – Advancing Microplastics Research in Organic-Rich Environments conference, which brought together leading experts, researchers, and policymakers to exchange knowledge and explore innovative solutions to the challenges posed by microplastic pollution. The conference focused on four key themes:
- Analytical approaches for microplastics in organic-rich matrices
- Sources, fate, and transport of microplastics in the environment
- Impact assessment and risk evaluation of microplastics and related additives
- Project networking and collaboration
Our team contributed two presentations:
✔ Highlighting the PLASTIX project and our innovative solution addressing the challenges of microplastic sampling in smaller watercourses.
✔ Presenting “Communicating Microplastics Science through Education”, showcasing our Erasmus+ projects that communicate microplastics science through education and raise awareness of its environmental and health impacts.
We are proud to be part of this important international community, which strives to better understand and mitigate the impact of microplastics on the environment and human health. We recognize our responsibility—not only through research but also through awareness-raising and effective science communication to the wider public.
