Director of the Faculty of Environmental Protection on Erasmus+ Mobility in China

Assistant Professor Dr. Gašper Gantar, Director of the Faculty of Environmental Protection, participated in an Erasmus+ mobility visit to China, where he strengthened international cooperation and gained insight into contemporary practices in engineering and environmental protection. The visit was hosted by Shanghai OCHUN Machinery and Equipment Co., Ltd., under the leadership of its Director, Chun Li.

Connecting Knowledge Beyond Borders

During the visit, he toured three universities with a combined student population of nearly 100,000. These institutions demonstrate strong research and teaching capacities in engineering, environmental technologies, and sustainable development. Meetings with university leadership and academic staff focused on identifying opportunities for future collaboration, particularly in student mobility and joint projects.

Advanced Solutions for a Sustainable Future

A key component of the visit included a professional tour of one of the largest and most technologically advanced underground wastewater treatment plants, with a capacity of 150,000 cubic meters per day. The solutions presented reflect a high level of development in water management infrastructure and provide relevant insights for the further advancement of environmental technologies in the European context.

Opportunities for Students

As part of the visit, the Director also received an invitation for one student of the Faculty of Environmental Protection to participate in a four-week summer school in Chinese language studies. This initiative represents a tangible outcome of international cooperation and further expands opportunities for students to engage in a global educational environment.

Learning Through Experience

The mobility also included exposure to the broader social and cultural context, complementing the professional content and contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of sustainable development across different spatial and cultural settings.

The Director emphasized that international experience plays a significant role in knowledge transfer, the development of competencies, and the shaping of innovative approaches in education and research.

The visit marks an important step in the ongoing internationalization of the Faculty of Environmental Protection and reinforces its position within the global academic community.
