At this year’s Excellence in Science 2025 initiative, organized by the Slovenian Research Agency (ARIS), our colleague Mag. Blaž Barborič was among the awardees. He received recognition for the outstanding work “Decades-long Changes in Vegetation and Land Use Evident from Various Data Sources: Two Regional Case Studies in the Slovenian Karst”, co-authored with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gregor Kovačič and Dr. Nataša Ravbar.
The Excellence in Science program is an important part of ARIS’s activities to promote scientific achievements. Each year, it highlights the most notable accomplishments that represent key scientific or socio-economic progress, innovations, patents, or other significant research outcomes supported by the agency.
In the 2025 selection, 28 outstanding achievements were recognized. Awards were presented at the central event, ARIS Day 2025, held on Wednesday, 12 November 2025.
We congratulate Mag. Blaž Barborič and his co-authors for their important contribution to understanding long-term changes in the Slovenian Karst and for enhancing the visibility of our research work!
