Science Day: We protect the environment with knowledge!

This week, the Faculty of Environmental Protection hosted more than 50 ninth-grade students from Anton Aškerc Primary School Velenje, who took part in a science day titled “Protecting the Environment Through Knowledge.”

Through an engaging, educational, and interactive program, the students explored the world of environmental research and discovered how science can contribute to environmental protection. During three thematic workshops, they learned about different environmental topics:

The World of Wildlife – students discovered methods of monitoring animal species and tested their skills in species identification.
Soil as the Foundation of Life – they explored the importance of soil for humans and the environment and learned why healthy soil is essential for a sustainable future.
(Micro)plastics in the Environment – students examined the issue of microplastic pollution and learned basic water filtration techniques.

The event was filled with curiosity, a spirit of exploration, and genuine student interest in protecting the environment. We believe that such experiences help foster environmental awareness and highlight the importance of knowledge in safeguarding our planet.
