From September 16 to 18, 2025, the Faculty of Environmental Protection successfully carried out a professional training program on the Sustainable integration of renewable energy sources into the environment. The training was organized as part of the SAŠA Just Transition Academy, established by the SAŠA Development Agency within the regional Just Transition Center, and fully funded through technical assistance from the Just Transition Fund.
The three-day program, spanning 20 academic hours, was designed in line with national legislation and local energy concepts. It combined theoretical knowledge with practical examples of best practices. Participants gained insights into key topics, including energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, construction and spatial legislation, European policies and funding opportunities, as well as environmental impact assessments.
Lectures and workshops were delivered by renowned experts: Senior Lecturer Klemen Kotnik, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Željko Vukelič, Dr. Peter Meža, Assist. Prof. Dr. Peter Frantar, Mag. Senka Šifkovič, and Ana Kočar, MBA.
Upon successful completion, participants received a certificate awarding them the title “Expert in the sustainable integration of renewable energy sources into the environment”. This certification confirms their competences in preparing professional bases, conducting environmental impact assessments, and developing projects for the spatial integration of renewable energy facilities.
By implementing such trainings, the SAŠA Just Transition Academy strengthens professional expertise in the region while supporting businesses, communities, and individuals in their transition towards a sustainable and competitive economy.
The Faculty of Environmental Protection plans to repeat the training in the coming years, enabling a wide range of interested stakeholders to expand their knowledge and acquire relevant competences.
