{"id":28546,"date":"2026-04-23T08:37:36","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T06:37:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fvo.si\/zdravje-rek-in-jezer-od-molekul-do-satelitov-2\/"},"modified":"2026-04-23T08:43:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T06:43:07","slug":"zdravje-rek-in-jezer-od-molekul-do-satelitov-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fvo.si\/en\/zdravje-rek-in-jezer-od-molekul-do-satelitov-2\/","title":{"rendered":"The Health of Rivers and Lakes: From Molecules to Satellites"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"189\" data-end=\"391\">Invited lecture on the ecological status of inland waters, water quality monitoring, and the protection of freshwater resources.<\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"393\" data-end=\"657\">As part of the course <strong data-start=\"415\" data-end=\"445\">Humans and the Environment<\/strong>, the Faculty of Environmental Protection welcomed invited lecturer <strong data-start=\"513\" data-end=\"562\">Cene \u010cibej, M.Sc. in Ecology and Biodiversity<\/strong>, who gave a lecture entitled <strong data-start=\"592\" data-end=\"656\">The Health of Rivers and Lakes: From Molecules to Satellites<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"659\" data-end=\"1068\">The lecture highlighted the importance of rivers and lakes in the natural environment and the role of freshwater ecosystems in maintaining biodiversity and quality of life. Particular attention was given to understanding the <strong data-start=\"884\" data-end=\"915\">ecological status of waters<\/strong>, as monitoring the health of rivers and lakes is essential for the effective protection of water resources and for sustainable environmental management.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1070\" data-end=\"1407\">Participants were introduced to modern approaches to <strong data-start=\"1123\" data-end=\"1151\">water quality monitoring<\/strong>, with particular emphasis on <strong data-start=\"1181\" data-end=\"1202\">molecular methods<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1207\" data-end=\"1228\">satellite sensing<\/strong>. The lecturer explained how advanced research methods contribute to a better understanding of changes in aquatic environments and enable more precise monitoring of inland waters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1409\" data-end=\"1834\">He also presented current research projects in the field of <strong data-start=\"1469\" data-end=\"1489\">water monitoring<\/strong>, which make an important contribution to the improved management of rivers, lakes, and other freshwater ecosystems. The lecture offered students valuable insight into contemporary research approaches and emphasized the importance of linking scientific knowledge with environmental protection and the sustainable management of natural resources.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1836\" data-end=\"2171\">The guest lecture provided students with broader professional insight and direct contact with current research topics in the field of freshwater ecology.
