Between 11 and 13 February 2026, researchers from the Faculty of Environmental Protection attended the final international conference of the seven-year LIFE AMPHICON project, Conservation of Amphibians and Restoration of Their Habitats<\/em>. The project addresses the decline in amphibian populations driven by habitat loss and fragmentation, as well as key challenges related to amphibian reproduction.<\/p>\n

The first day of the conference was dedicated to expert presentations of project activities focused on habitat restoration and strengthening amphibian populations. Project partners from Slovenia, Denmark, and Germany presented implemented measures and shared key results. The second day featured a field visit to the Slovenian LIFE AMPHICON project area, where participants reviewed measures designed to reduce amphibian road mortality, including protective fencing and underpasses.<\/p>\n

At the Faculty of Environmental Protection, we also actively conduct amphibian monitoring as part of our own professional and research activities. In spring, we carry out field surveys and monitor population status in selected areas, contributing to a better understanding of trends and to more effective planning of conservation measures for these vulnerable species.<\/p>\n
