Over 230 researchers from 28 countries presented the latest findings in vertebrate management<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ankaran, 16 May 2025<\/strong> \u2013 The 14th European Vertebrate Management Conference (EVMC 2025) successfully concluded today in Ankaran. Held from 12 to 16 May 2025, the conference brought together over 230 researchers from 28 countries. A rich scientific programme featured 167 presentations by authors representing 45 countries worldwide.<\/p>\n

The conference programme included 7 plenary lectures, 88 oral presentations, and 72 poster presentations, involving a total of 806 authors from all continents.<\/p>\n

The event was organised by a broad consortium of partners: Faculty of Environmental Protection<\/a>, University of Primorska (Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies<\/a>), University of Ljubljana (Biotechnical Faculty<\/a>), Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, Julius K\u00fchn Institute<\/a>, Hunting Association of Slovenia<\/a>, Hunting Association of Koper<\/a>, and Slovenian Forestry Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Researchers presented scientific insights across a wide spectrum of vertebrate management topics. Special attention was given to ecology, genetics, wildlife health, human\u2013wildlife conflict, invasive species, and modern approaches to population management. The research encompassed all vertebrate groups \u2013 from fish, amphibians, and reptiles to birds and both small and large mammals.<\/p>\n

In addition to the scientific programme, conference participants also had the opportunity to experience Slovenia\u2019s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and culinary specialties.<\/p>\n

This conference marks an important milestone for the Slovenian scientific community by highlighting its contributions to natural resource management and strengthening collaboration between researchers, managers, and policymakers. In the context of key European nature conservation initiatives, such as the EU Nature Restoration Law and the Biodiversity Strategy for 2030, events like this play a vital role in translating scientific knowledge into practical action.<\/p>\n

We are pleased to announce that the 15th European Vertebrate Management Conference will take place in Croatia in the spring of 2027.<\/p>\n
