The preparation of the report <em><a href=\"https:\/\/fvo.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/D_6.1_BC_Wild-boar-separation-methods.pdf\" class=\"mtli_attachment mtli_pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Effectiveness of methods for controlling wild boar movements&#8221;<\/a><\/em> was led by researchers from the Faculty of Environmental Protection (Dr Bo\u0161tjan Pokorny, Zarja Platov\u0161ek, Dr Samar Al Sayegh Petkov\u0161ek, Katja \u010crnec and Dr Elena Bu\u017ean) within the large international network <a href=\"https:\/\/enetwild.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ENETWILD<\/a>, with the participation of some other colleagues from Slovenia (Luka Duni\u0161 from<a href=\"https:\/\/www.famnit.upr.si\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> UP FAMNIT<\/a> and Dr Matija Stergar from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zgs.si\/eng\/homepage\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ZGS<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>In Europe, wild boars are the main transmitters of ASF (besides humans) and it is therefore essential to adopt strategies and measures to control disease transmission, including the separation of populations. Through a systematic analysis of the scientific literature and field experience obtained by questionnaires distributed to many experts across Europe, the researchers obtained information on the impact and feasibility of using different barriers to restrict the movement of wild boars.
