{"id":22919,"date":"2024-02-13T09:34:46","date_gmt":"2024-02-13T08:34:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fvo.si\/20273\/"},"modified":"2024-11-18T13:24:35","modified_gmt":"2024-11-18T12:24:35","slug":"20273","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fvo.si\/en\/20273\/","title":{"rendered":"Publication in Nature Ecology and Evolution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Prof. Elena Bu\u017ean, PhD<\/strong>, and her co-authors have recently published a paper entitled &#8220;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fvo.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Monitoring-of-species-genetic-diversity-in-Europe-varies-greatly-and-overlooks-potential-climate-change-impacts.pdf\" class=\"mtli_attachment mtli_pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Monitoring of species&#8217; genetic diversity in Europe varies greatly and overlooks potential climate change impacts&#8221;<\/a><\/strong> in the highly respected scientific journal <em>Nature Ecology and Evolution<\/em>, with an impact factor of 19.1.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the fact that genetic diversity is key to species&#8217; adaptation to climate change, the intensity of genetic monitoring\/research on wildlife varies greatly between European countries and also between species. A published study warns that current genetic diversity monitoring programmes in Europe are incomplete and inadequate. The authors therefore propose the identification of climate-sensitive species and their genetic monitoring along a temperature gradient.
