The 1st International Conference of the Portuguese Society for Engineering Education (CISPEE) will take place in Porto, between 31 October – 1 November, under the theme “Education in Engineering: Challenges for Innovation”.

Technically sponsored by the IEEE, IGIP, SEFI, ASCE, ABENGE, and the Portuguese Engineers Association (Ordem dos Engenheiros), this event will be a key opportunity to gather a number of national and international experts in the field of engineering education in Portugal, to discuss topics of the present working groups of the Portuguese Society for Engineering Education (SPEE): Engineering Ethics; ICT in Engineering Education; Continuing Engineering Education; Tools to Develop Higher Order Thinking Skills; and Mathematics in Engineering Education.

The program will include pre-conference workshop(s), invited keynotes, poster and plenary sessions, and a number of social events aiming to promote an ideal atmosphere for dialogue and sharing of ideas among participants.

CONFERENCE LANGUAGE AND PROCEEDINGS
The language of the Conference is English. CISPEE will publish the proceedings in electronic format. A book of abstracts will also be available in printed format. A number of selected, high-quality, papers will be invited for publication in the International Journal of Engineering Pedagogy (iJEP). The possibility to publish selected papers, in Portuguese, in IEEE-RITA, in the TICAI 2013 edition, in the magazine of the Portuguese Engineers Association (OE), and in the magazine of Engineering Education, published by the Brazilian Association of Engineering Education (ABENGE), has also been arranged in advance. IEEE Xplore® will index accepted papers meeting IEEE requirements of content and format.
